Prologue

The delivery room was frantic trying to deliver this premature baby. Suddenly the room was filled with the heathy and robust cry of the child just born. The nurses cleaned her up and laid her on her mother’s dying chest. Adaline held her as closely as she could. Smiling as she took her last breath. Instantly the baby screamed louder than before. Instinctively knowing her mother has died.

There was a lot of crying in that room as the doctor went to the waiting room to tell the father that Adeline has died. Ralph flew into the delivery room to hold his now deceased wife. The doctor asked Ralph what to put on the birth certificate. He said, “Adeline wanted to name her Catherine.”

Then he got up from his wife’s side. When the doctor tried to let him hold the child, he said, “No, she killed her mother, I want nothing to do with that child! I have two sons at home with no mother. What do I tell them? With that Ralph stormed out of the room, leaving the newly born Catherine in the arms of a stunned nurse.

The year was 1925 and this is the story of Catherine.

Mary's Song

A Mother's Story

This is a story about the mother of Jesus. So many stories of Mary are lofty and surreal. The truth that I bring to life is her humanity and her complete and profound faith; and her reliance and love for Joseph, both, which help her to follow God’s Will. This story is the perfect example of the importance of love and of family.

The story begins with the arrangement of the marriage between Mary and Joseph. Then I continue with the angel’s visit. I imagine what it was like for Mary; the fear and the ecstasy that moment brought to her; and Joseph’s reaction and hesitation.

For eighteen chapters I provide a window into this holy woman’s life, Mary’s joy, her sorrows, her deep admiration and devotion to her son. This is a very human story about Mary and her family and their very divine mission.

I have kept the story flowing and descriptive but to the point. This makes the novel an easy read, which I am hopeful, will be re read in difficult times to encourage the reader when they feel discouraged.

When I look at the gospels through Mary’s eyes, I truly see the courage and absolute trust in God, that as Christians, we should have.
